And Jehanne could have been Jehanette.<a class=\"sdendnoteanc\" style=\"color: #00ffff;\" href=\"#sdendnote2sym\" name=\"sdendnote2anc\"><sup>ii<\/sup><\/a> Names were quite fluid and flexible during those times. Joan d&#8217;Arc&#8217;s date of death (May 30<sup>th<\/sup>, 1431) is recorded in time, while her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/this-day-in-history\/January-6\/joan-of-arc-is-born\">birthday<\/a> is a place and believed to be January 6, 1414<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">. Records were not kept at this time (1400s) of the world as the majority of the population, including Jehanette, were illiterate. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">It is known that she hailed from Domr\u00e9my, as did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wikiwand.com\/en\/articles\/Jeanne_d%27Arc_(Fr%C3%A9miet)\">Aim\u00e9e Girod<\/a> (1856\u20131937). Aim\u00e9e became the model specifically selected by Emmanuel Fremiet (1824\u20131910) for the famous equestrian statue of St. Joan of Arc. Inaugurated 1874, the gilded bronze statue Jeanne d&#8217;Arc was placed at the Place des Pyramides.\u00a0 Thatoriginal was modified <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><em style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">ten years later and reproduced in <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><em style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">5 copies<a class=\"sdendnoteanc\" style=\"color: #00ffff;\" href=\"#sdendnote6sym\" name=\"sdendnote6anc\"><sup>vi<\/sup><\/a>. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"> Besides his original work, the other versions are located in Nancy France, Philadelphia, Melbourne Australia, Portland Oregon and New Orleans. However, this work is widely copied by other artists and there are 37 other equestrian Joanies on ponies in the world essentially with the same model much during statuomania. Riding this equestrian theme, statues with riders of fame such as <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">Stephen III of Moldavia in Iasi, Rumania, Napol\u00e9on I in Laffrey, Louis d\u2019Orl\u00e9ans in Pierrefonds and Bertrand du Guesclin in Dinan came to the public arts.<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">After St. Joan, Fremiet went on to produce some notable works.\u00a0 His works\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ngv.vic.gov.au\/explore\/collection\/work\/3414\/\"><em class=\"eujQNb\" data-processed=\"true\">Gorille enlevant une femme<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ngv.vic.gov.au\/explore\/collection\/work\/3414\/\">Borneo Savage<\/a> (on display in the foyer of the \u00a0Gallery of Palaeontology and Comparative Anatomy in Paris) explored\/exploited the theme of &#8220;ape phobia&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/equestrianstatue.org\/jeanne-d-arc-27\/\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Nancy Joanie<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">was responsible for her make over. The city requested a copy of the original, thereby allowing Fremiet to modify his work by reducing the size of the horse and placing a muzzle over the horse head. Critics abound, never mind that a complete male suit would have been impracticle for this heroine. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">The copy that found its way to the present location in New Orleans traveled a rather unusual storage maze through time.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><em style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">From storage in France, to storag e in New York, to storage in New Orleans. Once in New Orleans, it remained in storage, despite being gifted to New Orleans by Charles DeGaulle, until liberation in the business district Rivergate Convention Center in 1974. \u201cJoanie on her pony\u201d relocated again after Harrah&#8217;s Casino paid to have her moved to her current location in the Place de France amongst the French Market.<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">\u00a0She is a hit in New Orleans and every year a <\/span><a style=\"font-size: 24pt;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.neworleans.com\/event\/krewe-de-joan-d%E2%80%99arc\/15882\/\">Krewe de Jeanne d&#8217;Arc<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"> Joyeux Anniversaire, Jeanne d\u2019Arc celebrating the unofficial saint of New Orleans on her unofficial birthday.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.associationforpublicart.org\/artwork\/joan-of-arc\/\">Philadelphia Joanie<\/a> did not include as much stored imprisonment. Arriving as a bronze and inaugurated in 1890. It was moved in 1948 near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Maid of Orleans retains the bronze patina but mysteriously has lost her wreath crown.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">Jehanne rose in French ranks during the Franco \u2013 Prussian war. She was subsequently captured, imprisoned for a year and sold to the English. They in course, put her on trial charging her as a heretic by, among other things, acting on visions and wearing the clothes of men.\u00a0 So much for the mail suit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">During the trial she identified herself as <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.joan-of-arc.org\/joanofarc_signatures.html\">\u201cJehanne la Pucelle\u201d (\u201cJoan the Maid\u201d).<\/a> She was convicted and eventually burned at the stake<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><em><strong><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">Although she is known by many names, honored as a patron saint, revered as a strong women figure&#8230;. not much is really known about her physical characteristics. A historical initial depiction of Joan of Arc is dated to mid 15<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\">th<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"> century but is suspected of being a forgery. And a <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File:Jeanne_d%27Arc-Fauquembergue.jpg\">drawing by Cl\u00e9ment de Fauquembergue<\/a> shows that he would never be hired as a sketch artist.<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"> Along with the horse theme, there have been countless paintings and renditions of her through the ages and her true likeness is lost in diversity and myth. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"JUSTIFY\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Comic Sans MS, cursive;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">Aimee Girod the model of Jeanne, faded into anonymity and abject poverty.
