APRIL 27TH: Along Sullivan Creek Road. At the Noisy Creek Campground located on the west end of Sullivan Lake road, “Hotshots” are training in preparation for the upcoming fire season and access to the trail 405 is closed for this exercise.
The repairs on the Sullivan Lake dam have been finished and the water is up submerging the army of stumps seen last year.
April 28th: Cold night but slept well to rapids outside.
Morning hiked along trail 405 accessed at the Sullivan Lake Boat launch of Sullivan Lake Campground. Witnessed a “descent” of Pileated Woodpeckers as at least 4 worked their way through a cedar grove. Unable to capture good image as they hide. Distinct calls with loud taps on the wood.
The cold clear water gives a refreshing wash mini swim with warming in the sun by the shore.
